Boy George, singer, songwriter, DJ, actor, author, photographer, launches his new line “B-Rude”.

“B-Rude” examines new perspectives on human identity and explores our limits which have been set forth by the fashion industry. Questioning the roles in which we all play a part of.

Each design, though some abstract, suggest different visual messages to each person who views them, and each interpretation is correct. Objects in this world are what they are to you because of how you happen to see them, and where you are at in your life.

While living in New York last year. George began making customised pieces for himself and some of his friends. One by one they would come over to be a part of the creation. As each piece was being created he personalized them with witty slogans and elements to tailor to their personalities. Outlandish designs covered with cocks and roaches for some, butterflies and crosses for others. Each piece he hand made right in his apartment. Teaching himself to silk-screen the designs, applying heat transfers, hand dye and appliqué.

Designing his own clothes since he was a boy, starting this line is second nature to George. There isn’t any element that has not passed through his hands. For some starting a line means hiring designers to do it for you. Fortunately that is not the case with “B- Rude”. George’s approach is completely hands-on. From concept to production.
